S.T.A.R. Puppy Program

S.T.A.R. stands for Socialization, Training, Activity and Responsibility. This one hour 6 week class is open to any dog of any breed (purebred or mixed) that is under 12 months of age. This is a great first class for any puppy and owner and is preparation for taking the S.T.A.R Puppy test through the American Kennel Club. The AKC's S.T.A.R. Puppy Program is designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start and is an incentive for owners to take their puppies through a basic training class. This class is held once a week outdoors at J.L. Legacy in an regulation sized training ring and they do not have to be purebred dogs. At the conclusion of the 6 week session, you and your dog will have the knowledge and the tools to practice for and eventually pass the S.T.A.R. Puppy test. More information about the AKC's S.T.A.R. Puppy Program can be found here at the American Kennel Club's Website.

You and your dog will have the opportunity to take the test at the next testing event at J.L. Legacy from a certified evaluator. These testing events are held periodically throughout the year and there is no additional cost for the test, as it is included in the cost of the class.

At J.L. Legacy, we believe that if you expect the best from your dog, your dog will rise to the occasion. Through consistency, effort both in and out of class and a positive attitude you and your dog will get the most of out of this class and strengthen your bond with your dog.
